Why the owl?
Named for the corner store.
Red Owl was the grocery chain on Main Street all over the Upper Midwest, with a bright red owl on the sign, a striped awning and a clerk who knew your name.
Red Owl Software borrows the name as an affectionate nod: the same idea of a small shop, honest goods and friendly service, just with fewer canned peas.
